Experts expect world cotton production and consumption to remain flat in 2011

According to the Pakistani "News" reported on September 3, the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) released a report a few days ago, said that due to a 15% increase in cotton production and a 2% increase in demand for textile raw materials, 2010-2011 world cotton production and consumption It is expected to reach a balance of about 25.1 million tons.

According to the report, the U.S. is expected to produce 4 million tons of cotton in 2010-2011, an increase of 52% year-on-year, which is the main driving force behind the expected increase in world cotton production. China and India are the world’s most important countries for cotton demand growth. World cotton imports this year are forecast to increase by 9% to 8.5 million tons, of which, China's cotton imports will increase by 29% to 3.1 million tons: US cotton exports will increase by 27% to 3.3 million tons.

Analysts believe that the high US cotton production in 2010-2011 and India's 5 million bales of cotton surplus will make up for the decline in Pakistan’s cotton production caused by the flood, so that the latter’s domestic spinning manufacturers can meet the production demand through imported cotton.
